Presented on this page and the next is a sampling of artwork created for various exhibit applications including life size figures for a museum exhibit and a 36 foot long mural. In the case of the mural,  all aspects of the project were commissioned, including the overall concept. This was to be a memorial honoring all students and faculty of this University who had served in the Armed Forces since the school's beginning. The basic requirement was to present all 2000+ names. The concept I proposed was to paint a 36 foot montage mural based on some of the photographs of veterans collected from donors  and a collage.

hese figures are based on journals and records of contemporary individuals form this historic site. They were painted and reproduced life size and combined with actual objects in the museum exhibit. In the case of the black =smith, his anvil 'rests' on a real tree stump. The washerwoman has an actual wooden wash basin at her feet.

SKETCH JOURNAL & EXHIBIT ART
Here are two styles of journal art. The full color images are from a new project where I’m taking a different approach to the multitude of travel blogs out there by presenting it as an artist’s impressions of travel and dining. The tan background images were for an exhibit for the visitors center at the site of a significant French & Indian War era fort. The challenge here was to engage an entire family in the material rather than viewing a bunch of maps and a few rusty belt buckles.  What we came up with was to create an artist's journal that depicted aspects of the lives of individuals who lived, worked and served at the fort during its various occupations. This put a story and a face to the more scholarly material that was also displayed. This series of "journals" were set up in front of their respective period displays and are made to be turned like pages of an actual journal. these examples are representative of the 36 "pages" that were created for the exhibit.

uring a three year period working with Boston Beer, we have developed a specific style and approach for branding a wide array of products, and the related packaging and promotion.  The hand drawn, iterative feel of this resulting body of work has contributed to the updated branding of Samuel Adams products as well as conveying the experimental, craft brewing ethos of Boston Beer.

This process has yielded a new, hybrid  working style for me that has combined all the traditional mediums I have worked in and digital media. More samples of this style can be seen on the 'New Style' page as well as the 'Samuel Adams Labels' page.

This series, currently at twelve, utilizes the hand drawn, sketch style art along with sampled texture backgrounds and digital rendering using custom Photoshop brushes. Further examples of this style can be seen on the 'New Style' page.

Bacardi has released a suite of special rums and launched a web site for which I have contributed artwork. I created vignettes in multiple layers of line and wash that were then animated. The animation is unique in that the viewer scrolls through the animation rather than watch passively The images below are stills from different stages of the animations.

Illustrations for Point of Sale applications have been an increasingly larger percentage of assignments. This first one for Publix Markets was used as a 5 ft tall in-store display.  The two images below were for various in store pieces including a bin stacker (illustrated in the final image).

Each of these videos show the use of the artwork as a solution to the creative challenge of presenting a story or content in a unique and fresh way. This approach gives a project a signature look and feel.
